Situated in eastern-central Africa, Uganda has richly fertile soil, and a cosmopolitan capital city, Kampala. Subsequently, nearly 80% of the country’s population works in agriculture, and Ugandan coffee is world-renowned for its quality. Unfortunately, the country has its fair share of challenges as well. These include political instability, with a history of unrest, coups, and conflict with neighboring countries. While Uganda has experienced significant economic growth and poverty reduction, there are still large segments of the population living in poverty. Additionally, high unemployment rates (especially for young people), corruption, and income inequality present additional barriers to Uganda’s economic and social development.
