The aim of the 2024 MGP is to update the previous Gender Profile and guide Mali’s efforts to achieve SDG 5 by 2030, through a comprehensive analysis of gender disparities to inform advocacy, strategic planning, and resource allocation. The analysis will draw from the review of international gender equality norms and standards, while also accounting for the Mali’s existing legislation and policies, as well as of the institutional and political environment. In addition, a quantitative component will enable to assess key gender equality indicators in the current landscape. The study will provide a comparative analysis of the situation of women and men in Mali, including an analysis of 1) the institutional environment and the application of national and international commitments on gender equality and women’s empowerment, 2) the main sectoral priorities strongly linked to the issue of gender equality and 3) the strategies to accelerate the reduction of gender inequalities and the empowerment of women with entry points in priority sectors. The findings from our analysis will be presented in a report and and issue paper.
