Data-Pop Alliance organized this event in April 2015 along with other partner organizations such as ODI, PARIS21, UNFPA, Africa Gathering, and many others.
The Cartagena Data Festival was a three-day event in April 2015 that brought together more than 300 researchers, experts, policy advocates, and data visualization designers, to convene on ideas, innovations, and partnerships that drive a data revolution. The event was held in anticipation of the adoption of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals later that year.
The conference program focused on key topics related to Sustainable Development Goals:
- Accountability and citizen engagement
- Big data and new technologies
- Data journalism, communicating and visualising data
- Emerging areas of measurement
- O fficial and national statistics
- A technical data dive
The event aimed to:
- Drive the changes that are needed to advance a data revolution by bringing together the people and organisations whose innovations, resources, expertise and influence can make them happen
- Develop concrete solutions and practical tools to produce long term and sustainable progress through a data revolution
- Build the ideas, innovations and partnerships necessary to monitor the sustainable development goals
