Carla Bonina

Dr Carla Bonina is an author, academic and strategic consultant with more than 15 years of experience in innovation, digital economy and sustainable development. She is a regular advisor to governments, start-ups, impact investors and international organizations on issues of government and open data, digital entrepreneurship and sustainable social innovation. Her work has been published in books edited by the MIT Press, excellence journals, and she is the author of World Bank and OECD reports. She is Member of the Advisory Board of Pulsante—a partnership between Luminate, Open Society Foundations and Fundación Avina, which seeks to expand civic space through the consolidation of an active citizenry. In 2020, Surrey Business School name her Impact Researcher of the Year for outstanding contributions to impact in her research on digital government transformation in Latin America.

Carla is Associate Professor at Surrey Business School, and founding member ofthe Surrey Center of Digital Economy. She is Principal Researcher at the Latin American Initiative of Open data (ILDA), Strategic Advisor to the Veterinary Health Innovation Engine (vHive), and member of the Center for Social Innovation Management and the Surrey Law and Technology Hub. She is also member of Sandbox, a global network of young entrepreneurs, and shares a passion for social entrepreneurship. Carla holds a PhD in Management from theLondon School of Economics in the UK
