Jacopo Staiano

Jacopo Staiano is a Post-Doc researcher at the FBK MOBS Lab. He received his PhD from University of Trento (Italy) in 2014. He holds a Computer Engineering degree from University of Pisa (Italy), a MA in Sonic Arts from the Sonic Arts Research Centre, Queen’s University of Belfast (Northern Ireland, UK), and a MSc in Human Language Technologies and Interfaces from University of Trento (Italy). Previously, he was member of the Intelligent Systems Lab at the University of Amsterdam, where he worked on several computer vision and affective computing projects. He has been visiting scholar at the Ambient Intelligence Research Lab, Stanford University, at the Human Dynamics Lab, MIT Media Lab and at Telefonica I+D. His research has received attention from the Washington Post, VICE and the MIT Tech Review among others. His latest research efforts focused on mobile computing and the economics of personal data, and were recognized with the Best Paper Award at ACM UBICOMP 2014.
