Laila Lorenzon is the Development and Partnerships Manager at Data-Pop Alliance. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in digital Humanities at Université Paris VIII. She holds a degree in International Relations from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and has actively participated in numerous projects concerning digital rights and digital citizenship. Her professional journey includes roles such as working in the communications team of the Brazilian Chapter of Internet Society, serving as a Research Intern for the Digital Rights Foundations in Pakistan where she researched COVID-19 related data protection policies, and working as an Assistant Researcher at the CyberBRICS Project at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), where she directly engaged with data protection public regulations research. In 2020, she was selected as an Ambassador for the Digital Citizen Program, a collaborative initiative by the NGO Safernet and Facebook, aimed at promoting digital education activities for public school youth in Brazil. Her primary interests lie in decolonial studies, education and digital citizenship, community networks, public policies for digital rights and Internet Governance, with focus on studies on zero-rating and its effects on Latin America as part of her thesis.
