Léa Savoy

Léa Savoy is an Research & Content Intern at DPA under the Data Feminism and Geographies of Inequalities programs. Léa graduated from Florida State University in 2022 with a dual BS in Human Development & Family Science and Psychology. She is currently pursuing a MSc in Global Health at the Université de Genève. Léa has engaged in a wide array of impactful roles. As a Program Associate at Action for Development, she supported health initiatives related to sexual and reproductive health, child nutrition, and women’s mental health in Afghanistan.

She played a vital role in data analysis, program assessment, and cross-cultural collaboration with teams in both Geneva and Kabul. Previously, she coordinated multi-site NIH-funded mental health studies at the University of Miami, where she led a team of research assistants, conducted diagnostic interviews, and analyzed clinical assessments. Léa has published research in peer-reviewed journals and presented at major international conferences, including the Society for Personality and Social Psychology Conference and the African Women’s Health Conference. She holds multiple certifications in global health, equity, and gender-based violence prevention from institutions such as Harvard, UNICEF, and UniSanté.

One of her current research passions is evidence-based comprehensive sexual education as a primary prevention tool for various reducing risk factors related to unplanned pregnancy, sexual transmitted infections, sexual violence, etc. Additionally, she is interested in research related to the development and implementation of digital mental health interventions in Low- and Middle-Income countries.

Léa’s overall goal throughout her experiences and education is staying true to the phrase “Knowledge is Power” and showing that strong evidence supports effective program implementation!
