Mara Caldarini

Mara is a Junior Software Developer at Data-Pop Alliance. She holds a BA in Media and Cultural Studies and an MA in Philosophy and the Arts, with a professional background spanning research communication, academic publishing, and cultural events. Over the years, she has worked across universities and public institutions—including coordinating an interdisciplinary research journal and producing events for a national library—where she became increasingly interested in the role of technology in shaping access to knowledge.

Her growing curiosity about digital tools and their social impact led her to retrain in software development, completing a full-stack coding bootcamp with CodeOp in early 2025. Since then, she has applied her skills as a web developer for a community-based environmental initiative in London, and is excited to support DPA in building inclusive, impactful data-led tools that empower communities to deliver change on the ground.

As a developer, she is particularly curious about open source, digital accessibility, climate-friendly ways of building and hosting websites, and the handmade, poetic web.
