Maram Tebini is a Research and Content Intern at Data-Pop Alliance. She is currently based between Tunisia and France. Initially, she was trained in clinical psychology, with a specialization in criminology and victimology. She also holds a MA in social and cultural anthropology. She is a fellow at the Arab Council for Social Sciences working on gendered resistance and prior to joining DPA, she worked on several projects with local NGOs and research centers. She worked with the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights on housing for Sub-Saharan migrants in Tunisia, as well as a project focusing on the policing of urban protests. She was also a part of RAWSA MENA and worked with Groupe Tawhida Ben Cheikh on research tackling the socio-cultural barriers to abortion in Tunisia.
Additionally, she has experience with participatory research and collaborative anthropology approaches. In the past, she worked in mental health settings, specifically with underprivileged groups. Her published and forthcoming peer-reviewed articles focus on populism, the dynamics of power, and the challenges of the psycho-social responses to adversity. Her interests center around an intersectional approach to inequalities, and she aims to continue working on social vulnerabilities, urban violence, migration, and gendered and racial adversities, from a human-centered perspective.
