Maynara do Rio Sales

Maynara do Rio Sales is an Intern at Data-Pop Alliance. She has worked as a volunteer in a project called Observatory of Democracies when in college, analyzing Latin American democracies using indexes based on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their main area of assessment was gender and public policies for women, girls and LGBTQIAP+ people. She also has enrolled in a project with women waste pickers, promoting research about the sustainability of their works and means to guarantee financial autonomy for them. Currently She works in an NGO assisting asylum seekers and refugees with documentation and integration in Brazilian society.

She holds a BA in International Relations from Federal University of Latin American Integration and right now she is taking a master’s degree in the same area in Rio de Janeiro State University. She is exploring the LGBTQIAP+ migrant and refugee to the public policies available to them in Brazil and international processes of xenophobia, racism and sexual discrimination interfere in it.
