
Mehdi Mikou is a Spatial Data Scientist at DPA, where he applies geospatial and data science methods to support evidence-based policymaking. His work focuses on climate, inequality, and resilience, with the goal of advancing more inclusive and sustainable policy solutions.
Mehdi Mikou holds an MSc in Data Science from École Centrale Paris and an MSc in Environmental Economics from Universite Paris Saclay. He also completed a PhD in Economics at Institut Polytechnique de Paris, where his research explored inequalities in exposure to extreme climate events across Europe. This work combined Machine Learning analysis and spatial data to highlight how climate change disproportionately impacts vulnerable communities.
Professionally, Mehdi Mikou gained experience at the World Bank, contributing to projects on climate mitigation and adaptation strategies. This role deepened his expertise in applying data-driven insights to real-world policy challenges and reinforced his commitment to linking research with impact.
Beyond academic and professional work, he is the founder of Nechfate, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices in Morocco. This reflects his broader passion for environmental issues and belief in both grassroots and institutional action to address the climate crisis.
