Wissal Chafik is an intern in the Resilient Livelihoods and Ecosystems project. Originally from Morocco, she resides in Rabat. Fluent in English, French, Arabic, and Spanish, she is also undertaking German lessons to expand her language skills further. Wissal is pursuing her MA in Global Affairs at the Faculty of Governance at UM6P, having completed her international studies with a minor in Communication from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane. Her research interests combine migration, discourse analysis, social movements, and political systems.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Wissal has gained practical experience through roles such as a research assistant within DYNAMIG and an internship at the National Human Rights Council in Morocco. She is actively engaged in civil society, dedicating substantial time to volunteer work. As part of her involvement in the EU Jeel Connect Network, an initiative by EU Neighbhoors South, she is involved in developing an artistic bootcamp for teenagers aimed at promoting artivism, and the role of art in identity expression.
Outside of her professional commitments, Wissal enjoys various interests including sports like running and fitness, as well as artistic pursuits such as pottery, painting, and filmmaking.
