This White Paper was written by Julia Manske (Co-lead author), David Sangokoya (Co-lead author), Gabriel Pestre and Emmanuel Letouzé, with contributions from Lauren Barrett, Natalie Shoup, and Andrés Clavijo. It was produced as part of a World Bank-supported project implemented by Data-Pop Alliance in partnership with Colombia’s Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística (DANE).
The goal of the paper is to document and examine the conceptual underpinning and technical characteristics of existing ‘Big Data’ initiatives, pilots and strategies developed by NSOs in the region, especially as they may relate to the SDGs, so as to provide an analysis of key patterns and trends, highlighting their similarities and differences, complementarities, and gaps, etc.
Presented at the ECLAC-UNFPA meeting on the “Data Revolution in LAC” in Quito.
