Meet Data-Pop Alliance’s New Director for the MENA Region, Fouad Mrad
Data-Pop Alliance is pleased to announce Professor Fouad Mrad as our new Director for the MENA Region. In this role, he will lead the team’s efforts to harness data and technologies in support of the effective and adequate implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Professor Mrad received both his MSc and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University (United States) and has over 10 years of experience in the development sector, primarily working with technology, data, and science. Prior to joining DPA, he served as Executive Director for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia’s (UN ESCWA) regional technology centre, and as Senior Programme Manager for the same organization. In these roles, Fouad had the opportunity to liaise and partner with various national governments, with the goals of leveraging data, assessing Big Data readiness, and establishing national technology development and transfer systems.
Additionally, he worked in the private sector (with IBM) and acted as science advisor and chair of the Jury for the Qatar Foundation regional TV innovation competition program “Stars of Science” for 13 years. The last role truly speaks to Fouad’s passion for mentorship, innovation, and technology, which is evident in every project he is involved in.
We are confident that Fouad’s knowledge, experience, and networks will not only help to solidify DPA’s presence in the MENA region, but also enrich the culture of our organization and quality of our work worldwide.

البروفيسور فؤاد مراد، المدير الجديد لمنظمة د.ب.أ. لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال افريقيا
يسر د.ب.أ إعلان إنضمام البروفيسور فؤاد مراد كمدير منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا. في هذا الدور، سيقود جهود الفريق الهادفة لتفعيل وتسخير البيانات الضخمة والتقنيات الجديدة لدعم أهداف التنمية المستدامة
نال البروفيسور مراد الماجستير والدكتوراه في الهندسة الكهربائية من جامعة بوردو في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، إضافة إلى خبرته في قطاع التنمية ومجالات التكنولوجيا والبيانات التي تفوق العشر سنوات. بلمحة عن مسيرته المهنية، شغل منصب المدير التنفيذي لمركز التكنولوجيا الإقليمي في لجنة الأمم المتحدة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية لغرب آسيا. في هذه الأدوار، أتيحت للبروفيسور مراد فرصة تنمية علاقات واتصالات وشراكات مع العديد من الحكومات الوطنية بهدف تقييم جهوزية البيانات الضخمة و إنشاء أنظمة وطنية لتطوير التكنولوجيا
بالإضافة إلى ذلك، عمل في القطاع الخاص مع شركة IBM كما وعمل كمستشار علمي ورئيس لجنة تحكيم لمدة 13 عاماً لبرنامج “نجوم العلوم” الذي ترعاه مؤسسة قطر والذي يعتبر من البرامج الرائدة لتلفزيون الواقع في العالم العربي
هذا الدور الأخير يعكس شخصية مراد التي تحمل شغفاً للإرشاد، الابتكار، والتكنولوجيا تمامًا كما هو واضحٌ في المشاريع التي شارك بها على مر السنين
