Innovations in Data Collection: DPA to Join IUSSP Expert Group Meeting

In recent years, data collection and analysis have undergone rapid transformation. While attention often focuses on Big Data sources—such as social media, credit card transactions, and mobile records—significant innovation has also taken place in more traditional, structured approaches, particularly through hybrid methods that combine new and conventional data streams.

Yet many of these breakthroughs remain siloed within specific institutions or research communities, limiting their validation and broader application.

To help bridge this gap, a three-day Expert Group Meeting will bring together leading researchers and practitioners to present their work—particularly within low- and middle-income country contexts. Attendees will include representatives from academic institutions, global data agencies (e.g., World Bank, UNFPA, CIESIN, WorldPop), national statistical offices, and major donors.

📢 Emmanuel Letouzé, Director of Data-Pop Alliance, will participate as a moderator and discussant in the session on:
“Advances in Mobile Technologies for Data Collection.”

The event will be live-streamed and recorded, with all sessions available via the IUSSP website and other affiliated platforms to ensure widespread dissemination.

Full program and registration details will be shared soon via the IUSSP website and mailing list.
