Partnership Announcement: Data-Pop Alliance and CIAT

Partnership Announcement:
Data-Pop Alliance and CIAT

The CGIAR Platform for Big Data in Agriculture, led by the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), the  world’s leading research consortium in agri-food systems, nutrition security, and the reduction of poverty, has partnered with Data-Pop Alliance to explore  how e-learning and Big Data can be leveraged for digital agriculture and climate change.

Through this strategic partnership,  we aim to work with CGIAR’s Big Data Platform to jointly develop an online training module on Big Data, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems, targeting CGIAR consortium researchers. By early 2020, we expect to launch capacity-building activities including webinars, forums and a tailor-made technical tutorial.

By working together, both organizations aim to promote data innovation for agricultural development, particularly looking at how to understand agriculture during the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and at the existing opportunities to support sustainable development and climate change mitigation.
