Mali Gender Profile 2024

As part of UN Women’s efforts to strengthen gender data and support evidence-based policymaking, the Mali Gender Profile 2024 provides a comprehensive analysis of gender equality in Mali across key sectors, including health, education, economic participation, and governance. Developed with the technical contribution of Data-Pop Alliance, the report highlights structural inequalities affecting women and girls and supports alignment with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The analysis draws on the most recent available data to examine persistent disparities, including high rates of child marriage, limited access to sexual and reproductive health services, and unequal distribution of unpaid care work. These challenges are shaped by intersecting socio-economic and security dynamics, which continue to constrain women’s opportunities and well-being.

The report also identifies critical gaps in gender data, particularly in areas such as labor market participation, access to resources, and gender-based violence. By strengthening the availability and use of gender-disaggregated data, the publication aims to inform more inclusive policies and targeted interventions to advance gender equality in Mali.
