This is the first in a series of companion pieces that offer insights from a synthesis report evaluating the opportunities, challenges and required steps for leveraging the new ecosystem of Big Data and its potential applications and implications for climate change and disaster resilience, published by Data-Pop Alliance, with funding from the UK’s Department for International Development (DfID). The authors of the series attempt to go “beyond the buzz” to lay out what we actually know about Big Data’s existing utility for disaster science and for building practical resilience.

Data-Pop Alliance, CEPAL, y la ONE organizan primer taller en la República Dominicana sobre Big Data, Economía Digital y Desarrollo Sostenible

Santo Domingo, 09 de abril de 2019.- La Oficina Nacional de Estadística (ONE), como país coordinador del grupo de trabajo sobre medición de las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones de la Conferencia Estadística de las Américas, en conjunto con la CEPAL y Data-Pop Alliance, dio apertura al primer Taller regional de Formación Profesional sobre Big-Data bajo el tema: “Economía Digital y Desarrollo Sostenible”. Con este evento inédito la institución busca promover la aplicación de los métodos y las herramientas del Big Data en proyectos de desarrollo sostenible.
